I am wanting to get life insurance for myself and want to find out some good references or list of common providers in US.
Also, I need guidance of selecting the type of life insurance (what type of policy do most people normally get).
Thanks

One of the best ways to narrow down the list of potential insurers is to find out what the best rated companies are. The higher the rating the stronger the company. Standard & Poors is one of the common rating companies and you can search the ratings for your specific state here:
Regarding the type, if you are younger the most common type if a simple term life policy. This is the most affordable type that can protect your family in the event of your death during your working years.
The other common types of insurance are those that build cash value, your whole life and universal life type of policies. These have more expensive premiums, but they also build a cash value unlike term insurance.
The drawback is that the interest and growth of the cash value is quite low for a younger person who has many years left that can earn more money elsewhere. The single premium whole life type options can come in handy in generational or estate planning later in life though.

Most consumers choose level term life insurance because it provides you with level rates and level death benefits for up to 30 years. Term life insurance offers the maximum amount of protection at the lowest rates in most cases.
You can compare quotes online through life insurance quotes provider services.
Best of luck to you!
